Bridge Building 2002

Working together as a group, all sections of 16th Harrogate are bidding to gain the International Friendship Award through a link with Malawi. We launched this attempt with a great day out at Thornthwaite. Many Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Parents gathered together to build a bridge and enjoy a barbecue. We built the bridge 90 feet long and had 150 people cross the bridge. These numbers are symbolic in that the main lake in Malawi is 90 miles by 150 miles, and the idea of the bridge was that we are “building bridges” between our two counties
