Ullswater

This summer saw Scouts from the 16th and member of the Ellan McArthur Explorer Unit attending the multi-activity week camp organised by the County Activity Team at Pooley Bridge on the shores of Ullswater. Scouts had the chance to try their hands at Mountain Biking, Hiking, Kayaking, Sailing, Canoeing, Windsurfing, Rowing, Bellboating, Climbing and Abseiling

No excuse to get bored here!

The weather was kind to us as we picked the only week with any wind during the whole of August enabling sailing and windsurfing to take place everyday. Sarah and Becky managing to capsize the Otter in dramatic style. One night the wind really came up and the large sailing dinghies decided to fo on a trip of their own to Pooly Bridge!

The pgotos show Monday’s high-level walk around Boredale Hause, Angle Tarn, The Knott and High Street, Tuesday’s cloudy and sometime wet walk around Place Fell followed by Friday’s very hot and sunny walk from Haweswater across to Martindale via Kidsty Pike.

The final photo shows repairs to Splat, Karen’s boat that was rammed by persons unknown but lived to sail another day
