On 7th October we held a sailing day at Ellerton in conjunction with the Venture Scout unit. 8 Scouts and 7 Venture Scouts took part in what was a very successful days sailing. Sara, Rose, Gemma, Ollie and Gillian having reached the stage where they can helm on their own successfully completed their “Start Sailing Stage 2” and Simon completed his “Start Sailing Stage 1”. Karen who has her own boat spent the day “honing” up her skills and learning the skills required for Sailing Level 2

The four newcomers to Scouts spent the day with the instructors learning how to helm, the difference between a tack and a gybe and that a “sheet” is not always something you find on a bed!

The end of the day was spent “getting wet” learning how to right  a capsized dinghy
